Off-Peak

Assalamualaikum.

Wow, first post of 2019 is in July, mid July some more to be exact lol and my recent post was about my peak season haha lol can you tell this is finally my downtime? Anyway, as the title goes, I am currently in my off-peak season which means, I have free time to even blog yeah so this is how free I am lol.

I can't even remember how did my first peak season go cause it's been a while now haha but alhamdulillah all I can say is I'm still here for my second year of peak season so I guess I did fine previously. Let's hope that this year's will get better iA.

Communication and expectations management on yourself and your subordinates are important. You need to know each others' strength and weaknesses to finish the job well. And, know how to deal with your clients. Some clients are difficult, some are cooperative so it's all rezqi. Most importantly, know your limits and give your very best.

On a side note, many of my close colleagues have left the firm so I kinda need to start fresh again, in the sense of establishing new friendships with my new colleagues. I tweeted this once, "Never get attached to your colleagues especially in big 4, because people leave on a monthly basis" but joke is on me, I get attached pretty fast but a survival skill I have developed over the years; I detach quickly as well. I don't dwell over the past memories because I know that in life, people ALWAYS come and go. I should not latch onto people instead I am thankful that I get to know them in my life. I realised that everyone who has crossed in my life has always taught me something, I'm just glad about that.

Given the off-peak, I have the opportunity to go for a volunteering activity in which KPMG send every year, the SEATRU volunteering in Pulau Redang (Chagar Hutang beach which is a private beach). It's a turtle conservation program so I am looking forward to spending 8days and 7nights on the remote island with no network connection at all and rather to connect with the nature. I think i need this, trying to live with only basic necessities, away from the city and people. I'll be going next week, iA i'll write a post about it once I'm back.

So far, life has been pretty routine. I am used to my work and that's about it. Personally, I don't think routine is bad, in a way, it gives you time to slow down and just understand yourself. For me, my routine gives me the sense of stability and solitude. I know what I'm doing and it gives me time to explore my next possibilities. I know for a fact that someday I will try new things again, I will bring myself to a new journey but for now, I appreciate this period of time because during this time I have been able to travel a lot, alhamdulillah. I've been to four different countries in the span of 1 year and a half (since I started working) to which I am forever thankful for.

Krabi, Thailand (May 2018)

Padang, Indonesia (September 2018)

Guangzhou, China (April, 2019)

Victoria, Australia (April, 2019)

Forever grateful for the rezqi to travel and witnessed God's massive creations because I then realized just how small and tiny I am but I matter to God. I know that and that is the biggest assurance that I've got in this life. I hope you are too ok :)

Till then,
bestest of regards and may glad tidings are always with you.
